About Job Corps
Job Corps serves the nation’s at-promise youth as an integrated, agile, and demand-driven workforce and education training system. Young Americans entering the workforce today must contend with the forces of industrial globalization and technological advances, both of which have brought about rapid changes to the world economy.
Job Corps is an employment bridge for America’s youth to high-growth, high-demand industries. The programs offers career paths and life-long learning skills to prepare students to meet 21st century workforce challenges.To compete effectively in this new economy, American workers must adapt by learning new areas of knowledge, skills, and behaviors.
To enroll in Job Corps, students must meet the following requirements:
Be 16 through 24 years old
Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
Meet income requirements
Be ready, willing, and able to participate fully in an educational environment
How does STARS support Job Corps' Vision & Goals?STARS directly supports the New Vision for Job Corps. STARS' speakers, mentors and tutors support students in succeeding in a program with more rigorous academic and career technical requirements. These volunteers assist students with knowing and being able to demonstrate the Career Success Standards. In addition, STARS enhances on-center services and community support for students.
