CHI Summer Institute and Scholarship Opportunity

The goal of the 2008 CHI Summer Institute is to provide the highest level of training in the areas of lodging, food and beverage and tourism. This opportunity will allow participants who successfully complete all three levels of the CHI Summer Institute and perform 120 hours of internship to receive the Certified Hospitality Instructors (CHI) certification.

The Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association offers START workforce development instructors the opportunity to learn more about the lodging industry through a five-day Summer Institute designed to increase teacher confidence and energize the classroom presentation of the START program curriculum.

Institute participants will learn about today's lodging industry from faculty at leading hospitality management schools. In addition to lectures, demonstrations, discussions, small group activities, and videos, participants will have the opportunity to tour lodging properties and job shadow industry professionals for a taste of the real-world hospitality experience. There will also be time to network with peers and share teaching tips and best practices for introducing the world of lodging management to students.
